LG iam not too fimilar with. Samsung and Phillips/Magnavox have the highest percentage failure rates above all others. Just because it has alot of features, dosnt mean it will last a long time. I recommend going for these brands. Sony Toshiba Mitsubishi Pioneer Elite Hitachi OK if you want a TV that will last a year then go for Samsung.

LCD is by far the best technology & HD ready does not have a built in HD tuner, so in order to get an HD picture, you will need something that will feed an HD signal to it, that has a tuner in it. I got the HDTV with tuner built in. Much less hassle. Sony got out of the Plasma technology a while ago, because they knew it would have issues like the ones showing up now. DLP isn't any better.
