I am currently living in Malaysia and we are currently facing some serious heat waves in the afternoon lately. It is hard to imagine the lives of people to work in an environment without air conditioners over here. I was wondering, besides planting more trees, are there any other ways for us to reduce the heat that we are facing right or to make good use of the high thermoenergy that we have now?

This is a global problem and it needs a global solution:
