iAm notArabbit asked:
I’ve only tried the Yves brand as of yet, and was quite sickened by each variety I tried.
The soy cheese was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever tasted in my life. As was the faux-bologna. The chick’n burger was OK, but I still couldn’t stomach it.
I’ve wasted so much money on these products I’m afraid to try any more of them.
I’ve heard really great things about Riblets (not sure of the brand), but have yet to see them here in the stores. Then again I’ve heard great things about all Yves products…so if they’re any indication of the faux meats available…I guess I’m probably just not going to be a faux meat-eater.
Have you found anything you absolutely love? Not just tolerable…but actually good?
What’s your personal opinion on Yves products?
If I were trying to impress anyone, I wouldn’t eat anything resembling meat for fear one of my fellow vegetarians might see me and think I had backslid.

It’s not my fault animals taste so good, and I ate them for a million years, and now I miss them!
Science can do just about anything…why can’t it create GOOD fake meat.

Faux bacon bits rock though.

Garden Burger fake meat is pretty good.
If you’re a vegan or vegetarian, who are you trying to impress by eating fake meat? Just eat your veggies and be true to your principals.
If you want something that’s good and not just tolerable that resembles meat then you’ll have to eat the real thing - sorry.

The riblets you are talking about are called Gardenburger BBQ riblets, they are really good! I know they have them at Trader Joe’s. Boca makes pretty good Chik’n patties.I think Yves products are pretty good, you just have to add more stuff to the sandwich to give it more flavor,if you eat it plain then you probably won’t like it.

I like Boca burgers (all varieties) and some of the morning star products although they tend to be a little dry. I’ve never had Yves. I’m generally not impressed with soy cheese either. Good luck, but remember eating these vegetarian versions of meat is not really necessary unless you still desire meat and need to substitute it with something or if you are still transitioning into a vegetarian diet in which case they are good. I rarely eat them unless i’m with my family and they are grilling out and i’ll bring a boca burger to put on the grill. but now my husband has recently quit eating meat so he is eating a lot of them and therefore i am kind of by default.

I love this stuff call Tofurky, I think it’s really good. I would stay away from all the fake cheeses out there. They’re ick ick ick. I’ve never found one that taste decent.

I’m not sure if you get this there (I’m in Australia, but I’m pretty sure its sold for you) but the best faux meat I’ve tried so far is Zoglo’s. There’s a variety of products available, including kebabs, ‘ckicken’ nuggets, sausages (LOVE these), and a mini version of the sausages, rissoles, and a few other things.
The official website is
The range of products is at
And to see if there’s products near you

The only fake meat I like is Amy’s veggie burgers. But then, I’ve never eaten real meat in my life so I don’t have the cravings to contend with. To me, the veggie burgers pretty much taste like tofu with flavorings.

I like the Boca and Morningstar brands (The Morningstar “chicken” nuggets and patties are better than what I remember real chicken to be like!), but those are really the only two fake meats sold around here.

I like Vegefarm/vegeking brand stuff (hotdogs, fish, etc..). Usually it’s only found in Asian markets.
I eat the Gardenburger (veggie one not faux meat). Don’t like the Boca burger much (original one) last I had it. The Yves hot dogs I tried were okay, but not that great.
I though the Gardenburger grilled chicken is okay.
They all taste different and there are many different kinds.
