I wouldn’t buy a house without a dishwasher. None of the apartments that I ever lived in had one, so when I went house shopping, that was definitely a must have. The dishwasher that came with my house was certainly the bottom of the line, but when I got one of better quality, the space was already there for it.

I would replace the DW. Most homes now are built with them installed. Even people who “don’t care” expect to see one in a home now. It goes along with Garden Tubs. People love to have them, even though they soon find out they don’t use it.

Dishwasher is a must. People that are interested in your home, might be able to see the possibility of putting in a dishwasher in the space where you have placed a cabinet, but buyers will usually go for a home where a dishwasher is all ready installed. They don’t want the hassle of installing one.

Since it’s three bedrooms, people with children might be looking at it. Usually people that live with kids want a dishwasher so they don’t have to do as much by hand. Definitely don’t replace it with a cupboard, but you may want to replace the old one, depending on what condition it’s in.

A diswasher is very useful especially when you have visitor’s. You can chat to your guest’s, and the washing up takes care of itself

Your money would be better spent on a dishwasher than on more cabinets. I would not want a kitchen without one. You do not have to buy the most expensive one in the store but I would stick with a well known brand. Ask the salesman where it is made and buy American. That is my opinion but if you are planning to sell the house you might want to ask the realtor who will be listing the property. He can tell you what buyers in your area want better than anyone on this site.

Personally I think it would be a BIG mistake to replace the dishwasher with cabinets. Anyone looking at a 3 bedroom house would expect to find a dishwasher.

Dishwashers are relatively cheap and easy to replace. Trying to match cabinets already in place, is almost impossible. I would spend the money on matching cabinets.

Dish washer is nice but in buying a house location,size of rooms , storage space,etc. are more important to me. cupboard space is great in the kitchen because you never seem to have enough(at least I don’t).
