It's taking away trust. If a parent is suspecting somthing they need to stop chickening out and just straight out ask. Yes I am aware chances are if somthing bad was going on the child is not going to ask it. But if you suspect somthing dangerous or illegal is going on,or somthing that just is not within the rules of your childs driving. There privilages should be taken away till the situation is resolved. There is no need to stalk your child around town. I personally think it is wrong. It’s taking away trust. Much better to have a more strained relationship with your teen than to have them dead. The whole philosophy behind it is screwy. If my parents made me carry around some sort of GPS device or something, then I would be more likely to get in a car with a stranger because hey, if I do get kidnapped because I was hitchhiking, they can track me. That's what would run through my mind. Also, then once the whole "big brother" thing stops, or if I find a way out of it without my parents knowing, I'll use that as an opportunity to rebel and go somewhere w/o their permission.
