Personally, I would not try it in the Mr. coffee model IDS77 its kind of cumbersome for grinding up spices. In the Mr. coffee model IDS55 however, I wouldn't even think twice. With that model I would just make sure it is throughly clean before grinding any coffee; only reason, coffee and spices don't taste well together.
