Imagine you were walking alone down the street and suddenly a guy on a motorcycle with a samuri sword rode by and hacked at you. Before you started to move, the sword would cut through you. Imagine again you were walking in a crowd and a walking person came toward you with a sword. This time you might be able to move your body out of the way fast enough to avoid the sword, but you would bump into other people and they might bump you back, so you could not get clear of the sword.
