		<description>No, it does not monitor. But I prefer mid grade. Just a foot note, that the mid grade is not a 50/50 mix. If you have a large tank it is better to buy half Reg and Half Prem. The mix out of the pump is 60 reg and 40 prem. The station makes most of their money with mid grade.

If you car calls for a certain octane level you must use that. If something happen to the car you could void the warranty on it. They always seem to find out if the look hard enough</description>

		<description>The computer neither knows nor cares about octane. It does monitor detonation by means of knock sensor, and detonation is caused by low-octane gas. In other words, well-designed systems are capable of adjusting ignition timing to prevent detonation even when using low-octane gas while others will eventually set a "faulty knock sensor" code, and in the worst case-scenario you may end up with broken piston ring lands.</description>
