Call the Dept of Sanitation. You can call twice a year to have bulky items picked up at no charge. Just leave it on your curb and they will pick up.

I just had an old freezer picked up, and my neighbor brought out her washer.

If you have a land fill in your area, they take all sorts of large items like refrigerators, etc. so you can look in the local phone book for the Land Fill or Waste Management in your area to find out.
(someone at the office will be able to tell you.)

Call your trash company first. They may have a salvage/recycle program. They may charge you extra for the pickup.

In our city, we have a twice-yearly program where the trash company will pick up anything (i.e. refrigerators, old electronics, etc.) for no cost.

Some people will take it for free because they can sell it for scrap metal. I would suggest looking in your classified ads in the local paper and see if anyone has an ad saying they pick up old appliances...

Call the garbage dept. they'll pick it up. Tell them it won't fit in your car, that what my parents did when they had to get rid off an old refridgerator.

Do you have an organization like Habitat for Humanity out there? If so, (if it still works well) they will pick it up. If not, you will have to call around - not all dumps will allow appliances.
